If you are interested in learning more about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, I think the best place to start is with the Hash Power podcast series from Patrick O'Shaughnessy at Invest Like The Best. This is an incredible series of interviews from some of the absolute experts in the space. The series covers both the breadth of topics in crypto, as well as getting into some of the really interesting technical depth that sets these innovations apart. The thing that scares me about cryptocurrencies is not the potential malicious uses or the volatility, it is people investing into this new asset class without taking the time to learn more about it. Take the time to get educated on the hottest topic in tech and investing today.

The three main Hash Power episodes provide a great overview on cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. Once you have a basic understanding, I highly recommend that you listen to Patrick's interview with Adam Ludwin. Adam was one of the first investors to really see the true potential in this technology and has become one of the thought leaders in the space. He has a deep understanding of the technology and provides a tempered view of what the blockchain can and can't due. With all the media and investor attention focused on the explosive growth of bitcoin, there is a danger of finding yourself surrounded in an echo chamber of bullish pro-crypto views. Patrick's interview with Adam is the best example I have seen of reasonable, contrarian viewpoints from someone who still very much believes in the transformative power of the blockchain, but understands enough about the technology to see the challenges it will face.

If, after going through this crash course on crypto, you are still determined to invest in the space, make sure you go about it the right way. Below is a great guide on how you can get started.

How to Responsibly Invest In Bitcoin

My personal strategy is to go low and slow. I invest a small amount of money across a few different coins every month. I don't try to time the market or make a bet on any micro-coins becoming huge. I believe that cryptocurrency is the future and I want to get exposure to that future without getting sucked in to the mania that goes along with the space today.
